History

She Screams Without Sound was established in 1988 during a year when over twenty Hamilton County women had been murdered by their intimate partners.  Alarmed by the devastating number of victims, employees of Women Helping Women and the YWCA decided to do something to raise awareness in the community, and in the Hamilton County court system. A Candlelight Vigil memorial has been held every October since, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, to honor the murdered women, both known and unknown.

This year the Domestic Violence Awareness Month Planning Committee will plan two events. We will have our 23rd annual Candle Light Vigil on October 26th and an event highlighting the intersections between Domestic Violence and Animal Abuse on October 9th.
